About Butternut Box
Butternut Box is a rapidly expanding direct-to-consumer pet food company based in the UK. Focused on delivering freshly cooked meals for dogs, Butternut Box prides itself on its commitment to quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. As the business has grown, so has the complexity of its supply chain and warehouse operations, prompting the need for more scalable logistics solutions. With multiple shifts, new facilities in the pipeline, and an increasing number of suppliers, the team sought a way to streamline communication and booking processes to keep up with the pace of growth.
The Challenge
Prior to implementing GoRamp, Butternut Box relied on a shared Google Calendar to manage warehouse dock scheduling. While simple, this method created significant inefficiencies. There were no restrictions in place, meaning that any team member could book a slot at any time, often resulting in scheduling conflicts. Communication with suppliers was equally manual — booking a delivery could involve as many as 20 emails back and forth just to agree on a time. As a result, errors were common, such as missed bookings or unannounced deliveries, leading to confusion and unnecessary strain on the warehouse team.
This manual process became unsustainable as the business scaled. The team recognized that they needed a more automated and supplier-friendly system to manage bookings and reduce administrative workload. With a second warehouse facility under development and more suppliers coming onboard, it was time to modernize their approach.
Why GoRamp
The Butternut Box team considered various solutions but ultimately chose GoRamp due to its simplicity, ease of setup, and customer-focused approach. Unlike other providers that required lengthy onboarding and multiple training sessions, GoRamp was intuitive from the start. The clean and user-friendly interface made it easy for both internal teams and external suppliers to adopt the platform quickly.
One of the most important features for the Butternut Box team was GoRamp’s supplier-facing calendar. This functionality enabled suppliers to see available time slots and book them directly, which dramatically reduced the amount of back-and-forth communication. The ability to reduce friction with suppliers while still maintaining oversight was a key benefit.
In addition, the team appreciated GoRamp’s flexibility and startup-like agility. They felt a natural alignment between their own growth trajectory and GoRamp’s product development pace. The ongoing improvements and regular feature releases gave them confidence that the tool would continue to evolve alongside their needs. GoRamp’s responsiveness, hands-on support, and genuine interest in their success also set the company apart from more corporate, rigid competitors.
What truly stood out for the team was not just the product, but the people behind it. Marco Attanasio highlighted the importance of the partnership:
“You can have a great product, but if the people behind it aren’t great, it doesn’t deliver the benefits. With GoRamp, the experience has been super positive — not pushy, always helpful, and just easy to work with.”
The Solution
The implementation process was fast and effective. Led by Rishee Anand and his team, GoRamp was fully up and running within two to three weeks. The process began with a small group of suppliers to test the system and gradually expanded to the full supplier base. Implementation required minimal support from GoRamp — just a few team members on the Butternut Box side were able to train the rest of the warehouse team internally, with coverage across four shifts and multiple users per shift.
“We wanted something that could come out of the box and be ready to go — and that’s exactly what we got with GoRamp. It was one of the easiest supplier onboardings I’ve ever done.”
— Rishee Anand, Butternut Box
Since going live, Butternut Box has continued to add new suppliers to the platform. The flexibility of GoRamp’s onboarding and support model allows them to integrate partners at their own pace. As the business grows, the system scales with them — without requiring repeated heavy-lift implementations.
Results
Since adopting GoRamp, Butternut Box has seen a significant improvement in operational efficiency. The amount of email communication needed for booking deliveries has decreased substantially. Warehouse staff no longer deal with missed or forgotten bookings, which were once a regular issue. With suppliers now able to self-book into the system, there’s been a marked reduction in delivery rejections and last-minute confusion.
Time savings have also been notable. Where warehouse scheduling previously required combing through calendars manually, it is now a streamlined process that takes roughly 30 minutes per week to manage. The team finds the system far more accurate and less administratively burdensome, allowing them to focus on value-added tasks.
Although the company hasn’t formally calculated the cost savings, the benefits are clear in terms of operational flow and reduced stress on both the warehouse and supply chain teams. The data shows consistent growth in platform usage, indicating that GoRamp has become an embedded part of their daily operations.
“One of the best things we’ve noticed about GoRamp is that there’s been very little communication needed from our side. The implementation was seamless, and we’ve barely had to think about it since — which is exactly what you want from a tool like this.”
— Rishee Anand, Butternut Box
Future Outlook
Looking ahead, Butternut Box has ambitious plans for expansion, including a new production facility in southwest Poland that will double their operational footprint. The team fully intends to implement GoRamp across this new site, using the platform as a standard part of their warehouse toolkit.
There is also interest in deeper integration with other systems, such as SAP Business One, to create a more connected and intelligent logistics infrastructure. While this isn’t an immediate priority, knowing the integration capability exists provides peace of mind and future flexibility.
As the business matures, and the system has become embedded, ownership of the platform will transfer into the operational teams that utilise them, ensuring sustained success and alignment.
Ultimately, GoRamp is seen not just as a tool, but as a trusted partner. The Butternut Box team values the relationship, citing the professionalism and approachability of GoRamp’s support team as key to the ongoing success of the partnership.
